Earl McMillan was brought to Joseph’s House, a hospice care facility in Adams Morgan, to die in late 2017. Instead, he recovered from a serious infection and with the intense care of the nursing staff, learned to live healthily with his HIV diagnosis and recovered from a drug addiction. But after living a year in Joseph’s House, Earl relapsed and had to move out. The staff continues to support him whenever they can, taking him to medical appointments and helping him apply for government support.
